How to Wear the $20 Target Jelly Shoes

My love affair with jelly shoes continues. This time, someone in the jelly community (yes, there are many jelly shoe fans all over the world!) told me about the Target jellies and I stopped in my local Target to check them out. At $20 (less if you take advantage of their Target Circle bonuses like I did) they are a bargain find that you’ll find yourself wearing more often than to the pool or beach. Here’s how I styled my $20 Target jelly shoes.

Buy the Jellies

Check out the Wild Fable Jelly Flats at Target here as they were kind of difficult to find without a link. The “Isabella” currently comes in many colors including clear, pink, turquoise green and red. They are a ballet flat that is quite stylish and very versatile. I found kids jelly shoes at Target too including these cute toddler fisherman style glitter jellies. The kid’s jellies are $10 so you can buy some for your toddler to match yours!

My Jelly Obsession

I wrote an article about my love of jellies (it started when I was about 4 years old) and you can read it here. I have many jelly shoes and love them all. I love that many jellies can be recycled, so if you are concerned about the use of plastic in the shoes, read my article and I explain about the sustainability of jelly shoes and a bit on their history. You can also learn their history via Wikipedia here.

Sizing of the Target Jellies

They do run big. I wear a size 6.5 or a 7 in all shoes. I was skeptical of all the reviews saying they ran big, so I stopped in my local Target and the reviews were exactly correct. They run big by about a half size. If you are in between sizes like me, you may need to size down. I got a 6 and they fit perfect.

The Jelly Insole

The Target jellies have a REMOVABLE sole that is a memory foam cushion-like material. I keep the insole in for daily wear and then take it out if I am at the pool or beach. These make a great impromptu swim shoe, as long as they are snug on the foot.

See my 1-minute jelly review and how I styled it below in my YouTube video or via my channel @carolynjbraden:

With the insole, they were comfortable for a full day of wear. These jellies have “holes” in their lattice design, so my feet didn’t sweat. That could change, of course, with the weather, but overall, they were comfortable.

How to Wear the Ballet Jelly Shoes

You can wear the Target jelly ballet flats with many, many things! If you want one pair to wear with everything, I suggest the clear pair. I already had a clear pair of jellies, so I ended up getting a red pair and a turquoise pair of the Target jellies. They’d be cute to mix and match and my colors would look good mixed for the 4th of July! I bought one for $20, then used a Target Circle bonus to get $10 off the second pair. Two pairs for $30 was not a bad deal!

Skinny Jeans + Bargain Tee

I found a $3.50 shirt on their clearance racks that had a big red heart on it (I love hearts!) so I bought that and paired it with the red jelly shoes. I added a pair of Joe’s gray skinny jeans ( I LOVE how they feel and fit and scored them like-new at a thrift store, but you can find my style called The Charlie on Amazon or on the Joe’s Jeans website here).

I added a red bandana as a headband and a vintage Liz Claiborne wallet/purse to complete the look. You could also add some jean shorts instead of the jeans.

Tight Roll Jeans + Retro Tee

I got this idea from the JellyObsession founders on Instagram. If you love jellies, follow them here. I paired the turquoise pool-colored jelly ballet flat with the JAZZ cup design shirt my husband got for me on Amazon and a pair of “tight rolled jeans” (tight rolling jeans was popular in the 80’s and 90’s). I see me pairing these with dresses too. I added my $10 retro sport sunglasses from Temu and was ready for a casual day of errand running.

Swimsuits

If you take the insole out, the jellies are beach and poolside ready. I paired the red pair with a two piece I’ve had for years, as well as my favorite leopard one-piece from Amazon.

The red jellies remind me of Ruby Slippers in a way (from the Wizard of Oz)

I buy most of my swimwear on Amazon as they are well-priced and their reviews + photos help me find the best size. I bought a medium in the zip up leopard design and it fit perfectly. I added some red heart/cat eye sunglasses from Amazon, and the look was complete.
