The song "Ridin' Solo" by Jason Derulo came up on my Amazon Music playlist today while I was on the treadmill. It's a song about a break up, which is something everyone goes through at some point in their life.
Breaking up, whether it's via a job, a relationship, a place you live, bad habits, or more, isn't hard to do. It's just that we allow fear to control us and we allow it to make us think it's hard to do. We all must realize sometimes that a "break up" is necessary in order to help us live better lives. If you are in pain in any way, feel a struggle inside your mind or heart to break up with something in your life, take it from me: It's time.
In January of 2018, I "broke up" with my job, without lining up another one to to go to, which was one of the scariest things I've ever done. Granted, yes, I have a husband that helped support this big change, but as I've written before, I was making a decent amount more money than he was and we had a mortgage, three pets and bills to pay. Still, it was something I had to do in order to make my business dreams come true.
In order to do this, we planned appropriately, took our time, got our finances in order, and then I was able to take the plunge. I've been grateful every day since taking the leap. I've felt more free than I ever have in my entire life. My creativity is overflowing, I'm happy all the time (well, I still cry, but I'm just a crier who cries even when super happy!), I finished writing my first giant young adult novel today (with outlines for two more in the series), and I just feel like I can breathe.
The song "Ridin' Solo" sums up a wonderful feeling that will take over you once you break up with what you need to. My husband and I jam to this song all the time, for it's actually pretty fun. Jason's (and Jonathan Rotem's, co-song writer) lyrics "I'm feeling like a star, you can't stop my shine", "Now I made it through the weather, better days are gon' get better" and "I'm living my life ain't got stress no more", more than sum up the feelings you will feel once you get to the other side of the pain you may be feeling.
