My Creative Inspiration
This craft is another take on my regular sized and XL sized paper bag snowflakes from 2024. While I loved those, I wondered if I could make them smaller with mini paper bags. Well, you can and you can also make them in other colors. I chose a white mini paper bag for this tutorial and decided to add some sparkle, well, because I love sparkle.

How to Hang the Snowflakes
I wanted to hang them from our modern light in our dining area in 2025 and did so while adding some sparkling gold tinsel. It’s simple holiday décor that looks like it took so much more effort was involved than it was! In 2024, I hung them all over my staircase and made them in two sizes. They were much larger, but looked fantastic!
They were natural colored lunch bag snowflakes and you can learn to make them here in my tutorial or below via my YouTube channel @carolynjbraden:
Other Snowflake Ideas
Like my giant paper snowflakes from 2024, you can make these with any size paper bags. This mini version is about 12 inches in diameter when finished. You can cut them diagonally for star shape for you can cut them rounded to make more flower-like décor.
You can make them with brown paper bags, white paper bags or any color of paper bag. I love the idea of pink snowflakes and may do those next year! Every snowflake in nature is different, so it’s fine that you vary your design, color and size.
I love the glitter accents
How to Make EASY Mini Glitter Paper Bag Snowflakes
Now for the project. Here’s what you need. My links go out to either Amazon, Walmart, Temu or Target, based on where I source my art supplies depending on price. These are literally made in minutes, so be ready to get some fabulous snowflakes for your home, business or workplace very fast!
Hot Glue Gun (Dual Temp, here’s a similar one to the one I use from Amazon)
Mini Paper Bags (Mine were white, 3.5x2.2x7 inches and from Amazon, but Walmart has them too)
Scissors (Amazon, I used some heavy-duty ones as the stacked bags could be a bit hard to cut)
Gold Glitter (Use any color you’d like, I use biodegradable from Amazon, but Walmart and Target has glitter too)
Rubber Cement (Walmart has it too)
Optional: Gold tinsel and gold ribbon for hanging

How-To:
Heat up your hot glue gun to either a low or high temperature (I used low for this project). Place a line of hot glue down the middle of your bag and a couple of lines at the bottom section of the bag (the closed end and on the opposite side of the bottom of the bag flap).
Adding the glue
Stack another bag on top of the glue and repeat this process until you have 7 bags stacked and glued.
The 7 bags are now glued together
Allow the glue to cool. Cut the open end of the bag stack at a diagonal or cut into a rounded end depending on which shape you want to make.
Making a pointy snowflake
Add a couple of cuts along the edges of the stack of bags. I did 2 cuts, one on each side, for two of them and did more cuts for the pointy edged snowflake.
Different cuts give different results
Then, fan out your bags into a circular snowflake. IF your bags stick a bit like mine did (some of my bags were tightly put together from the manufacturing), so slow when fanning them out so you don’t rip them.
Opening up the snowflake
Add some hot glue to the ends of the bags and glue them together to form the full snowflake.
Gluing the ends together
I added some rubber cement to every other end of the snowflake. Rubber cement is better than a water based glue as it won’t make your snowflakes get wilty or rippled.
Rubber cement allows the glitter to stick and the paper to not get wrinkly
I sprinkled on some glitter and patted it down. Yes, glitter is messy and you can omit it if you want!
Adding the glitter
I cut some ribbon and looped it through the cuts in the snowflakes and tied them to my modern dining light, hanging the garland first, then three snowflakes.
The finished snowflake display
I’ve seen some people add dots to the snowflakes for extra décor and as I’ve said earlier, you can use colorful bags, larger bags and make this craft your own!
