I got the inspiration for my first Young Adult novella, Georgia McMasters in Amethyst Lake Cemetery: A Magical Mystery, during one of my many visits to the historical location Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky. Many well-known people are buried there like Muhammad Ali, Colonel Sanders and more.
Some may find a cemetery to be creepy, but I find it to be quite the opposite. It’s a beautiful and peaceful place filled with many stories. I believe Cave Hill had a story to tell me which answered many questions I had about death and if it really even exists. I learned that it does not and explain the difficult-to-grasp-concept via my beautiful book. It’s a mystery yet also a love story inspired by my own life experiences.

A summary of the book:
“Step aside Nancy Drew. There’s a new girl in town. Her name is Georgia McMasters and she’s about to solve bigger mysteries, go on more awesome adventures, and will teach the world how to love harder and stronger. She’s high tech, cruelty-free and ready to accept all her special powers.
In this first book of the series, Georgia McMasters of McMasters Mammal Magic is called upon by Belle Braden at Amethyst Lake Cemetery to humanely remove the destructive coyotes from the grounds. Supported by her loving Grandma Rose, Georgia accepts the job but soon finds out there is much more going on at the cemetery than she bargained for. Vampires hit the scene in the second book in the series, Georgia McMasters in Gatlinash and the Dark Hearts.”

The monument images on the original cover are photos I took during one of my many visits. I also designed both covers myself.
