The phrase "Sometimes you gotta kiss a few frogs" often refers to having to date a few people you may not quite be matched well with until you find the "perfect" mate. While I find that concept to be very true (I dated for quite some time until I found my incredibly awesome husband), this concept can be applied to many things in life.
The "frogs" we are served when it comes to career paths, bosses, relationships and more may not be fun, but they are there for a reason. They are guiding us to what we are supposed to be doing with our lives when we stray from the "path".
I was on a path to be an educator. After 14 1/2 years, I took a leap of faith and left that path. It's not that I didn't like teaching or that I wasn't good at it; I just felt pulled to do something else. I also had some not so great bosses and experiences (my "frogs") that helped push me along.
I kissed the frogs, then listened to my heart.
I am now writing and creating art full time. I'm still "teaching" (so my college degrees are being used), but in my own way. The pay isn't super great as of yet, but my husband and I planned for me to be able to do this, and I am ever so grateful the opportunity.
I know I'm not alone in doing something like this. Ken Jeong is someone that comes to my mind when I think of big life changes.
I've followed Ken's career for a while. He became a doctor due to his parents urging, but felt a calling in his heart to act and perform comedy. He listened to his heart and became a very successful actor (in my opinion and many others). You probably have seen him-he's been in The Hangover movie series, was on the show Community, and most recently is in Crazy Rich Asians, which has quite a lot of buzz around it.
