The 20th installment of my #MondayMantra series: I am unique

Think about all of your friends and family members. Go ahead….I’ll wait……………

Now, hear this: While you all may have similarities, not a single one of you is EXACTLY like another. Even twins and triplets and quadruplets all may be very similar, but they are not EXACTLY the same.

You are unique. You have unique talents to share with the world. Anytime you find yourself thinking “well, that person already did it like that” or “that person already does that”, think again. There is always something different about each person and their true talents.

I’ve had people try to compare me and what I do to others, and I just listen, but not too carefully…..

Anytime I present something creative, someone ALWAYS says “Oh, someone did that at work” or “I saw that at a party I went to” or “my friend makes those too”. I’ve learned to just say “Oh, awesome!” because I know in my heart, the other person did not do the creative thing exactly the same way I did. I’m not saying I did the creative thing "better”; I’m merely saying I did it differently.

I write “I am unique” in my journal anytime I catch myself thinking I am not good enough or my ideas and talents aren’t good enough. It doesn’t happen to me often anymore, but the thoughts tend to slip in my mind on occasion. I think everyone thinks this from time to time.

Something I know we must always remember: Our unique personalities and talents were given to us for a reason and we must allow them to shine. Spend less and less time around people that compare you and your talents to others and find those that think you are uniquely awesome every minute of every single day.

Sending my light and love to all who need it!

Backstory on my mantra series:

A mantra is a word, phrase, or sound that is repeated to aid in meditation. You could also compare it to a sort of prayer. I feel my journaling and writing of my mantras is a form of meditation or prayer. It calms me and helps me make better sense of my feelings and all the thoughts swimming around in my mind.

I believe saying or writing something repeatedly, as you already have it, aids one in attaining dreams and goals. If you write something as you already have it, it makes you feel, somehow, as if it is truly happening no matter how drastic or scary it may seem. It's like a trick to help your brain catch up to what your heart desires.
