Today I am helping others learn to how to care for combination skin AND giving my opinion of The Ordinary, Skin & Co., ZO Skin Health, Derma E and several other skincare brands.

I struggled from constant breakouts as a teen and they continued into adulthood UNTIL I made some changes. The first changes came with diet. I eliminated dairy from my diet and that really helped. I then added a routine of drinking a ton of water everyday. Next, I started going to an esthetician to help me learn more about my skin. After doing some experimenting, we came up with some products that worked great for my combination skin.

I now maintain my skin on my own and thought I should share what I used with others.

This is not a sponsored or paid post.

I just wanted to share my love of beauty and skincare with anyone interested.

In the video below, I show you my full personal skincare routine for combination skin as well as give you lots of tips and tricks for taking care of this skin type.

If you don’t have time to watch the video, keep reading below for a shortened version of my skincare routine.

Here is a comprehensive list of the skincare products I use AND links to buy them on Amazon OR to find out more information. I do this skincare routine in the morning and at night:

  1. I first wash with Zo Skin Health Gentle Cleanser

  2. I use a cotton ball to swipe on Skin & Co Truffle Therapy Toner over my face and neck

  3. Next I apply a few drops of The Ordinary Pycnogenol 5%

  4. Then I gently apply a few drops The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% to my face and neck

  5. At night ONLY, I apply The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% after the Hyaluronic Acid

  6. Next I gently apply some Derma E Vitamin C Night Cream to my face and neck areas

  7. Under my eyes, I apply a few drops of The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5%

  8. Lastly, I use a cold Banish stainless steel roller or these Floraison Unbreakable Stainless Steel Magic Cooling Beauty Facial Sticks for Face, Neck & Body Cryo Sticks to cool my skin and help with the absorption of the products. I store these in a tiny Frigidaire fridge I use for skincare only.

  9. If I have any breakouts, I use ZO Skin Health Acne Control 10% Benzoyl Peroxide. You can buy ZO Skin Health on their website: https://zoskinhealth.com

  10. Once a week I apply The Ordinary Peeling Solution for about 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly

While my entire skincare routine may not work for everyone, some of the products may work for you. Try them out and see what you think. Always remember though, TEST OUT ALL PRODUCTS ON A SMALL SKIN AREA 24 hours before applying them all over. Do this especially if you are prone to have reactive skin OR have sensitive skin.

If you have tried any of these products, let me know! Leave a comment below. I love to hear if something works (or even if it doesn’t work) for you. I always give skincare products two weeks before I decide if they work for me or not. In two weeks, I either see improvements or my skin breaks out. I always hope for improvements, but since not all skin types are suited for all products, sometimes things don’t work out.

I still get breakouts from time to time (especially during my “hormonal” times) and when I use things that clog my pores. But I can honestly say that these products, as well as my diet changes, have helped tremendously!
