Mimosas made with store bought orange juice tend to be too acidic tasting to me. So, I had some oranges on hand, tried combining their fresh juice with a little sparkling wine, and magic happened in my glass!

The trick to making them taste awesome is the perfect ratio of orange juice and sparkling wine or champagne, and I nailed the combination with this recipe! I guarantee you’ll love it!

See the Tips and Tricks section below the recipe for some helpful recipe ideas.

Servings: 2

Preparation + Cooking Time: 5 minutes

Suggested kitchen tools: 2 small bowls, wire mesh strainer or cheesecloth (optional), 2 stemmed glasses

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. chilled sparkling wine or champange (I used La Marca Prosecco sparkling wine)

  • 2 medium Valencia oranges

Non-Alcoholic Option: Sparkling White Grape Juice

How-To:

  1. Squeeze the juice of both oranges into a small bowl

  2. Strain the juice into another small bowl through a fine wire mesh strainer OR a piece of cheesecloth to remove pulp IF desired (I didn't strain my juice and they tasted great!)

  3. Pour half of the freshly squeezed orange juice into one glass and the rest into another

  4. Pour half (3 oz.) of the sparkling wine (or champagne) into one orange juice filled glass, and pour the other half into the other orange juice filled glass

  5. Drink and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks:

  • I found my ingredients at Whole Foods and a local liquor store but the ingredients could be found at most grocery stores and online

  • Don’t want to make this alcoholic? Try subbing in sparkling white grape juice in lieu of the champagne or sparkling wine. The taste will be slightly different, but still yummy!

Mimosas in a Bag: Great Gift Idea

Mimosas in a Bag

Gift Idea by Carolyn J. Braden

When we quickly sold our house, I decided to gift our realtors with a little something because they were simply awesome. I love coming up with unique gift ideas, so I took a couple of days to think about what they would truly love and actually use.

I like personalized gifts that are functional, so I decided on a cutting board with their last names etched into them. I found an artist on Etsy that personalized bamboo cutting boards (just search “personalized cutting boards” on the Etsy app or website to find similar ones), so I ordered three small boards (big enough for cutting fruit). They arrived quickly and were beautiful.

Not wanting to just give them cutting boards, I thought about a gift that would compliment the boards. Since champagne makes a great celebratory gift, I added 6 ounce mini bottles of La Marca Prosecco to the cutting board gift, as well as two oranges and a printed copy of my own mimosa recipe. I put all of it inside of organic cotton produce bags that I purchased on Amazon.

Overall, each gift was under $20 and worth every penny! Seeing their grateful and happy reactions were priceless, as they weren’t used to being on the receiving end of a gift from a seller. I also think this gift idea would make a perfect housewarming gift, engagement gift or one for bachelor/bachelorette party guests.

These are the produce bags I ordered from Amazon:
