Easy Ways To Transform Your Kitchen On A Budget

Whether you are trying to sell your home fast or make your home feel brand new, there are many benefits associated with giving your kitchen a bit of makeover. After all, the kitchen is the heart of the home, whether you spend hours in there cooking delicious meals for your family or have recently discovered a love of baking. That being said, many homeowners tend to put off home renovations for as long as possible due to the fact that they can sometimes be expensive.

However, this does not have to be the case. In fact, there are plenty of ways in which you can give your Kitchen a budget-friendly makeover. Here are some top tips to get you started!

1- Tackle any renovations first. The first step towards a successful kitchen transformation should revolve around dealing with any necessary repairs or renovations first. For example, this could include dealing with mold or leaky pipes - both of which may seem like minor issues at first but could quickly escalate, putting the health and safety of the whole family at risk.

2- Remove any clutter. When you are turning a house into a home, it’s only natural for you to accumulate a bit of clutter here and there - especially in the kitchen. For example, you may find that your drawers are overflowing with takeout menus or broken utensils. However, for a complete transformation to take place, you must ensure that you clean the clutter. To do this, you may want to invest in additional storage options for your kitchen, such as shelving, so that there is a place for all of your belongings.

3- Repair, don’t replace. One of the biggest misconceptions associated with transforming your kitchen is that you have to throw away all of the old furnishings - such as ovens and cabinets - and start from scratch. However, this simply isn’t the case, as it’s likely that most of these items just need a little TLC to be restored to their former glory.

For example, you could look into companies that offer cabinet refinishing services, which will leave your cabinets looking as though they are brand new - for a fraction of the price you would spend on replacing them. In fact, you’d be surprised about how much of a difference these kinds of services can make to your home.

You can even make your stone countertops super shiny and brand new looking with a quick restoration. Watch the short video below on our YouTube channel “Carolyn Braden” to see a countertop before and after being restored.

4- Put together a color scheme. The key to a good room design is having a clear theme or color scheme in mind, as this gives you something to center the room around can help make design choices much more straightforward. According to recent studies, the most popular color for the kitchen in the US is gray, as this allows you to experiment more with color when it comes to cabinets and furnishing - however, don’t be afraid to add a splash of color to the space either.

For example, you could paint your cabinets yellow to bring a bit of sunshine into the home and pair this nicely with complementary shades of orange for items such as towels, toasters, and other kitchen appliances.

5- Give the space a deep clean. Sometimes, to breathe new life into your kitchen - you don’t need to do any decorating at all; you simply need to give it a good old clean. However, this doesn’t mean you should grab a pack of antibacterial wipes and hope for the best - you need to dedicate a good few hours to cleaning the room from top to bottom.

6- Try your hand at some DIY projects. DIY projects are always useful for those looking to express their creativity and save money when it comes to redecorating your home - therefore, why not try your hand at some DIY in the kitchen? For example, if you are looking to create a backsplash for your kitchen (an area above the oven/counters covered in an easy-to-clean material), then you could even make your own.

Furthermore, DIY-ing your kitchen means that it will be a truly unique space - though you should ensure you do not carry out any tasks you are not qualified for, such as plumbing and electrical work. After all, it goes without saying that anything dangerous should be left to the experts.

7- Hang some wall art. Installing quality wall art is another great way in which you can transform your kitchen, especially if you are trying to find a way to add a more personal touch to your home. However, if you are trying to keep the costs down (and don’t have the money to spend at a gallery), you can save money by making your own art.

For example, you can buy cheap canvases from local crafts stores alongside a bunch of paints and let your creativity run wild. Alternatively, you could purchase a small canvas for each family member and have them each paint their own picture that you can display alongside each other. Finally, you could also express your creativity by creating wall art using family photographs.

8- Change the lighting. No matter what room you are trying to renovate within your house, changing the lighting can be truly transformative. This is due to the fact that lighting can be used to set the atmosphere from the space - whether you are looking for a warm and welcoming vibe or a dark and mysterious one. Therefore, you can transform your kitchen by installing new lighting fixtures or changing the light bulbs.

Additionally, you can also change the way in which your kitchen looks by making the most of natural light. For example, you can ditch the curtains in favor of lightweight blinds that leave plenty more room for sunshine.

In short, there are various steps you can take to transform your kitchen that does not cost very much money at all. This is due to the fact that the smallest changes often have the biggest impact on the way in which a room looks - meaning you only need to make a few edits to make your kitchen feel as though it is brand new once again.
