Why Thai Cuisine Is Worth Adding To Your Meal Plan

Why Thai Cuisine Is Worth Adding To Your Meal Plan

If you’re looking to improve your culinary skills or simply to broaden your tastes, then one of the best ways to do this is to spend some time really exploring and getting to know the cuisine of a nation and a culture.

It can also be great if you’re looking to throw a themed dinner party or even if you’re trying to cook for friends with international roots and want to give them a little taste of home. Thai cuisine is popular, but if you’ve only ever experienced it by ordering out or eating it at a restaurant, here are a few recipes worth learning.

1- Tom Yum Goong

To many, this is one of the quintessential recipes of Thai cuisine, if not the staple. Thai food is one that almost always brings a blend of flavors and this stew does just that, with sweet, spicy, sour, and salty flavors all mixed in there. If you want a really authentic taste for your Tom Yum Goong recipe, then you should ensure that you’re stocking up on the vital Thai herbs, such as galangal and makrut lime leaves.

2- Massaman Curry

Thai cuisine is also very well known for its curries. If you had to try just one, however, then there’s nothing better than a well-made Thai masaman curry. This veggie-heavy curry is relatively easy to make, with a really rich and creamy sauce that’s perfect for warming you up on those cooler days.

What’s more, it uses no meat, so if you’re trying to up your veggie intake or cutting down on meats, whether it’s for health or other reasons, there are few better ways to do it than with one of the best curries in the Thai cuisine roster.

3- Pad Thai

One of the most popular staples of not just Thai restaurants and takeouts, but for Thai homes and families, too, a Pad Thai isn’t overly different from a stir-fried rice noodle dish that you might find in other cuisines at a glance.

However, it’s the additional ingredients and Thai flavorings, starting with the chilies, that gives it such a distinct taste. What’s more, it’s super easy to make, with 15-minute pad thai recipes showing just little effort it takes to make this a staple of your meal plan.

4- Pork Satay

While there are tons of great Thai meals that allow you to get away from meat entirely, when it comes to flavoring pork, there are few things better than a delicious Pork Satay.

Making use of cilantro to give it a fresher flavor, while Thai chili sauce cuts through the fat of the meat, all with the distinct but irreplaceable effect of peanut butter makes pork satay a super delicious and yet not too difficult dish to make. This handy skewer food is also perfect for parties.

A little Thai can go a long way in expanding the rest of the tastes you’re able to play with in the kitchen. Hopefully, you get some ideas for meals you want to make from the examples above.
