Minnie Pearl the Eskie is five months old! Oh, the joys this age has brought to our lives…….
Minnie Pearl went into her first heat cycle this week. Or, at least we think so. She started being way more crazy than usual, dogs around the neighborhood were clamoring to “visit” with her during our walks, she had a bit of an unusual odor, she bled a bit and started whining when urinating. She also started urinating all over the house, which was not normal as we finally got her to consistently use potty pads or go outside.
We looked up all the symptoms and found out she either was in heat OR had a urinary tract infection.
Because we were unsure, we took her to be checked out at the vet. Both our vet, Dr. Campbell, and our favorite vet tech, Nickie, checked her out and were stumped. Her symptoms cried ‘heat’, but she wasn’t swollen as much as most female dogs get when in heat. Minnie Pearl would not cooperate in giving them a urine sample to test, so they decided to treat her for urinary tract infection.
The final conclusion was possible heat, possible infection, or both. Also, the combination of her teething and being a young puppy, made the doctor also conclude she was suffering from AAR disease……AIN’T ACTIN’ RIGHT. When he said that, I started laughing and totally agreed. I love our veterinarian……
Our Vet:
While currently living in Louisville, KY, we go to Blue Cross Animal Hospital. Dr. Campbell has such amazing stories (he’s seen and heard it all throughout his very long career!) and everyone in the office is always happy to see us. It’s located by our home too, which makes it very convenient with us having three pets.
Happy Friday ya’ll! Sending our light and love to anyone who needs it!
