Have that plaster hand print you made with your
baby but don't know what to do with it?  I bought a
plaster handprint kit and did it with my niece.  I
purchased the kit at T.J. Maxx and it was very
inexpensive.  I didn't love the paper frame materials
it came with, so I
invented my own display idea.

1.  Take a brush or your finger (as I did) and do a
wash of pearlescent paint medium all over the front
of your finished handprint. (Make sure the plaster is
completely dry!  I waited a week for it to dry
completely.)  I left the handprint part paint free to
make it stand out.
Let the paint fully dry.

2.  Glue a satin ribbon around the edges of the
finished plaster handprint.  I used Sobo glue
for this step.
Let it completely dry.

3.  Cut a piece of felt and glue to the back of the
plaster handprint.  I used Sobo glue
for this step.
Let it completely dry.
4.  Glue an edging around the handprint on top of the
satin ribbon. (I used a frilly girly one I found at a craft
supply store.  It was very sheer, so that is why I glued
a satin ribbon onto the handprint edges first.  It just
gave it a finished look).  I used hot glue for this step.

5.  Let everything dry completely and display on a
plate stand as I did.

This was a gift for my niece's bedroom.  There are
many alternatives (colors, shapes, paint colors display
ideas) to this project.  I glued the leftover felt into a
beautiful soap box I received as a gift. The felt served
as a lining for the box and I store some of my precious
pinsand jewelry in it!

See what you can come up with!
I purchased these Adidas Sambas. I
had a pair when I was in the 8th
grade and just thought they were the
coolest!  I decided this time around, I
would make them a little unique.  I
purchased some leather
acrylic shoe paints from
www.shoehardware.com.  The brand
of paint is Angelus.  I painted one
stripe in Bahama Neon Blue, one in
Rio Red Neon, and one in Tropic Sun
Yellow Neon.  I laced them with neon
green shoe laces and had my custom
shoes!  I love them!  Some shoes
require prepping prior to painting
them and some paints require
finishers.  Be sure to read the
package directions prior to trying
this project!  I also painted
rollerskates with Nu Life Shoe spray
in Raspberry with Pink Sparkles.
